Purpose.
The existential question so many of us ponder.
Some spiritual teachers say there is no purpose to life. The only purpose of life is to experience the here and now.
Some life coaches will say your purpose is the most important pursuit of your life. It’s what gets you out of bed in the morning. It’s what drives you to push, strive, and succeed in life.
For the purpose of this short article, I want to separate the word “purpose” from the “calling.”
We will define the purpose of life as to simply experience it.
Your calling is what your soul is compelled to do in this life.
Your calling is what you’re searching for. Your calling is trapped beneath the mind in the depths of the heart. It desperately wants to break through, like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. Your calling is the highest expression of your soul’s unique frequency. It’s your unique gift, music, medicine, and art to share with the world.
Someone living out their calling doesn’t think about the question. They naturally embody the state of being and action, as a bee does not have to question whether its calling is to pollinate the flowers. It simply acts in accordance with its nature. The question of finding one’s calling only arises for those who have not fully heard and embodied the desires of their heart.
The truth is, the deepest parts of you already know what your calling is. By the end of this letter, we will try and hear it.
Your Calling
Your calling is seeking you as much as you are seeking it.
Your calling calls to you in the middle of the night, in your dreams, in oracle and tarot readings, and through signs, symbols, and synchronicities. It persistently speaks to you through your intuition and subconscious, no matter how much your conscious mind tries to push it away.
It is the vision you cannot run away from. It comes up in deep states of bliss, meditation, or peace. It is what you feel to be true in your heart space - not what you think to be true in your head.
Your calling probably makes no sense to your rational mind. It’s probably what scares your ego and your parents. It might be what you feel hesitant to tell others that you really want to do. It’s what you see other people doing that you wish you could do, but your mind convinces you “you’re not ready,” “you couldn’t do that,” or “you’re just not like them.”
What inspires you in other people is no accident. Whatever and whoever you feel most inspired by is a hint at your calling. You feel drawn to these people and their expressions because a deeper part of your soul knows you are meant to do something similar.
I knew I was meant to become a traveler, athlete, writer, podcaster, a DJ, and a spiritual guide because I felt most inspired by Walter Payton, Michael Jordan, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Mcconaghey, Alan Watts, David Hawkins, Socrates, Seneca, Marcus Aurelius, Joe Rogan, Danny Miranda, Dan Koe, Jordan Peterson, Frederick Dodson, Neville Goddard, and Ram Dass.
I never stayed up late reading about investment bankers, listening to podcasts about agency owners, or watching YouTube videos about short-form content creators, no matter how much my rational mind has tried to convince me that these are the “smart” or “logical” paths.
I have always been drawn to the writers, the creatives, the artists, the athletes, the polymaths, the philosophers, and the spiritual teachers. Not only because they inspire me, but because it is written in my soul’s code that I am supposed to become like them.
You also have a list of people who inspire you.
Take out a fresh sheet of paper or a notes document and list them out.
Ask yourself:
What is it that inspires you about them?
What is it that they are doing, or who is it that they are being, that speaks to you so profoundly?
What would it be like to step into owning that you are cut from the same cloth, and that this is who you are too?
Now, what excuses or justifications does the rational mind come up with that tell you not to pursue this part of yourself? Is it not time? Do you need to do more inner work first? Is your mom, dad, brother, or aunt going to say it’s irrational? Notice what stories the ego comes up with to keep you safe in the comfort of the known, and see through the illusions of these stories.
The ultimate illusion is that you must delay the pursuit of your calling until you achieve some external result.
“Once I retire, then I’ll start to discover my true calling.”
“Once I set aside enough money in savings, then I can pursue my calling.”
“Once I set up this $10,000 a month business, then I can work on my calling.”
The Issue With Delaying Your Calling
The more you delay your calling, the more tension will build in your spirit.
If you won’t spend an hour a day on your calling now, you never will, no matter how ideal the circumstances are that you can create.
Until you step into your calling, you will always feel like something is missing.
You will never feel truly alive until you own and embody your calling.
Your calling is your unique frequency, your spirit’s highest expression, and the work you can do that will make the largest impact on the world.
Your calling is the reason why you get up early in the morning, why you eat clean, why you stay sober, why you meditate and journal, and why you continuously choose actions that serve your highest self. It is your reason for staying aligned. It is the north star and guiding light of all your actions. It’s what makes your life worth living.
So let today be the day you stop delaying your calling.
If you feel deep within your heart you’re destined to be a writer, start writing the book today. You don’t have to know what the book is about, how you’re going to publish it, or if anyone will read it. Just write a single sentence or outline the manuscript. Once a little momentum is there, it becomes much easier to stay in the frequency of being a writer and live in it each day.
If you feel you’re destined to make music, take one step towards creating music today. Buy the DJ deck or the guitar. Stop pushing it off. Start playing around with it. Watch an intro video or buy a course or tutoring from someone who is doing the thing professionally. One tiny step could lead to a new timeline where three years from now, you’re a full-time traveling musician.
It doesn’t matter if you’re writing poetry, learning a martial art, creating video games, building a startup, creating videos, doing photography, cooking, singing, dancing, pursuing stand-up comedy, podcasting, public speaking, coaching, or learning a new language. Everyone’s calling will look different, as everyone has a unique soul blueprint.
Whatever it is you feel you’re spirit is calling you to pursue, let today be the day you take one tiny step towards living in your calling.
Even a tiny step in the direction of your calling career creates a ripple effect of momentum and opens up a new timeline that may manifest in you pursuing your calling full time in years to come. Taking the first step is often the hardest, as momentum has yet to be created. But once you are moving, it is easier to stay in motion (ie, Newton’s First Law).

But you will never know if the calling is real unless you take a step towards trying.
Let yourself fuck up. Allow yourself to not know about what you’re doing. Be okay with feeling completely incompetent. Be okay with feeling crazy, weird, or insane. This is the entry ticket into the life path where you are living in your calling.
What is the alternative? What is the point in waiting? You get one shot at this life in this body. And it would be a shame to never see the heights of what you’re spirit is here to create.

How to recalibrate your vision, frequency, and self-identity to their highest expressions.
This letter hits me at the right time (of course it does). Epic read. As we talked about yesterday—I almost decided to consciously refuse my calling. Well, my mind tried to. My soul knows better😈
The first step is the steepest for sure, but don't underestimate al the hurdles, insecurities and doubts that come after. Courage doesn't mean taking the first step, it means trusting the pull day after day, even if everything in you questions it.
It is a sad, sad thing to see people not go after their calling. Let’s be honest society is not built for people to follow their calling. But at the same time power follows the blame finger. So it is on us to take 100% responsibility and still go after it even though it’s hard.
